DIRTY HANDS CAUSE ACNE?

Last week, I was watching a variety show that was talking about a teenager who developed acne. The show was illustrating how successfully their treatments have "cure" this teenager acne breakout. It was brought to my attention when the "skin consultant" in the show talked about how his dirty hands brought along bacteria that causes his acne.

Acne is a condition that must encompasses 3 criteria before it could set in. First, excessive sebum secretion. Second, dead cells piling up. Third, proliferation of P. Acne bacteria (not any other bacteria that you could contact via hands or dirt).

These 3 conditions must be present during most teenagers' puberty stage before you could see acne breakout. P. Acne bacteria typically reside on our face even when you don't have any acne breakout. Any bacteria that you carry via your hands during any games or dirt are different. These bacteria do not contribute to any worsening of your acne condition. Your acne condition would worsen are probably due to the additional sebum and dead cells congestion that you brought along from your dirty hands.

Typically for treating acne, therapists or doctors will tackle the condition via 2 ways. First exfoliation-based treatments. Second "killing" P. Acne bacteria on your face. Controlling sebum secretion is quite difficult since it is strongly influenced by the hormone in your body. For those who have very bad acne condition, you may have to resort to oral treatments such as anti-biotic, hormone or accutane pill. Which level of treatments to go for, in my opinion, depend on your objective and skin conditions.

So, do your dirty hands' bacteria causes acne on your face? The answer is NO!
