| Is
Moisturizer
beneficial
FOR skin deep?
I realize that
for some clients they think or being persuaded to think that moisturizer is
an all-rounder beneficial skincare product. Even to the extent that when
they see their skin surface is good, skin deep layers are good too!
Some may
describe as the concept of applying a good oil/emollient to a leather
product. You will see this leather shine and the whole leather is actually
being nourished.
Well, leather
is a dead "skin" while our skin is alive. "Nourishment" to a dead skin is
never the same as the nourishment to an alive skin. Whatever results you see
from a moisturizer in providing benefits to our skin is always superficial.
It does not affect the ageing skin that is really deep in, dermis layer.
Typically, a moisturizer will not have the ability to affect this deep
layers, no matter how much you apply.
However, we
could not deny the fact that our skin needs a good moisturizer for other
reasons such as more normal skin functions, anti-free radical activities,
water-binding benefits, dehydration minimization, and many many others.
However, these functions will never be able to affect the native functions
of our skin deep tissues and skin cells.
In my opinion,
a more proper and lasting beauty have to come from internal and external
handling. A concept that is far away from just simple using of a good range
of skincare products.
Hence, while a
leather product could enjoy a deeper nourishment from a oil but it is
definitely not our skin.
